UGC delegation visits Metropolitan University in Sylhet

A four-member delegation from the Bangladesh University Grants Commission-UGC visited Metropolitan University in Sylhet.
On Saturday (September 20), they visited the university’s permanent campus in Bateshwar area of the city. They also met with MU authorities for a meeting.
The delegation included UGC member Professor Dr Md Anwar Hossain, Director of Private Universities Department Dr Md Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan, Additional Director Md Sultan Mahmud and Assistant Director B M Sohel Rana.
The UGC delegation was welcomed to the campus by Metropolitan University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Md Ishrat Ibne Ismail, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Taher Billal Khalifa and Registrar Zahed Hossain Ghaznavi.
The delegation toured the university campus. They met with the MU authorities in a meeting of views in the seminar room.
The meeting was attended by Metropolitan University Founder and Chairman Emeritus Dr Taufiq Rahman Chowdhury, Board of Trustees Chairman Tanvir Rahman Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Md Ishrat Ibne Ismail and Treasurer Professor Dr Md Taher Billal Khalifa, along with the Controller of Examinations, Deans of all faculties, Registrars, Heads of Departments, Director of IQAC and Additional Directors.
At the beginning of the meeting, the UGC delegation congratulated the university authorities for achieving permanent status as the only private university in Sylhet.
Appreciating the potential and current status of the university, they mentioned that Metropolitan University is moving forward rapidly with all the necessary infrastructure and facilities on a permanent campus. The university has many skilled and qualified teachers, which has made it a reputable institution.
The delegation expressed hope that Metropolitan University is making a positive contribution to the development of society and knowledge and will continue to do so in the future.
They reviewed the activities of various committees of the university and expressed satisfaction and commended the university authorities for managing these activities smoothly.
At the same time, they appreciated the transparency and accountability in all the activities of the university. They assured that UGC will continue to support the specific and positive activities undertaken by Metropolitan University.
UGC member Professor Dr Md Anwar Hossain suggested giving more importance to research activities in the university.
The UGC delegation also highly appreciated the exemplary role of Metropolitan University in providing humanitarian assistance to the teachers, officers and employees of the university. Press Release
