To ensure the prompt and effective resolution of various problems faced by Bangladeshis living abroad, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has established a ‘Complaint Resolution and Redress Cell.’
The information was disclosed by Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury during a press briefing held at the ministry’s conference room on Tuesday (June 2).
The minister said that expatriates will be able to submit their complaints or problems directly to minister@probashi.gov.bd and minister.expat@gmail.com through the newly formed cell, which is staffed by ministry officials. Necessary actions will be taken to resolve complaints promptly and all applications and complaints received will be presented directly to the minister and secretary on a daily and weekly basis.
Reiterating the government’s firm stance against irregularities, he stated that the licenses of three recruiting agencies accused of fraudulently sending 30 Bangladeshi youths to Russia have already been revoked and their security deposits confiscated.
Highlighting government initiatives for expatriate welfare, Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that the government has decided to introduce a ‘Probashi Card’ offering a range of benefits. In addition to serving as a digital identity card, it will include a dual-currency payment gateway facility, enabling expatriates to send remittances to Bangladesh more easily and securely.
The minister also pledged to restore dynamism and transparency within the ministry, saying that the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare would be comprehensively restructured and that visible changes would be evident within the next six months.
Responding to a question from journalists regarding the Malaysian labor market, he said that the government is sincerely working to reopen the labor market in Malaysia and that no syndicate will be allowed in the recruitment process when worker migration resumes.
State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare Md Nurul Haque, Ministry Secretary Md Mokhtar Ahmed and the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Dr Md Shakirul Islam Khan were also present at the briefing. Press Release
