Increased Revenue Collection Facilitates Service Expansion and Development

Sylhet City Corporation-SCC Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury has said that the Revenue Department is one of the key driving forces of the city corporation and increased revenue collection makes it easier to expand civic services and implement development projects. Therefore, the responsibilities of officials and employees of the department are highly important.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a ceremony held on Thursday afternoon (June 11) at Nagar Bhaban, where awards and raincoats were distributed among Revenue Department employees.
At the event, officials and staff members of the Revenue Department were honored with commemorative awards in recognition of their special contributions to SCC’s revenue collection efforts.
The program was chaired by SCC Chief Executive Officer (Joint Secretary) Mohammad Rezai Rafin Sarkar. Special guests included SCC Secretary Md Ashiq Noor and Chief Revenue Officer Biswajit Dev. The event was conducted by Akhtar Siddiqui Bablul, General Secretary of the SCC Employees’ Association.
Among those present were Chief Assessor Md Abdul Basit, Tax Officer Jamilur Rahman, Licensing Officer Rubel Ahmed Nannu, Market Supervisor Albab Ahmed Chowdhury and other officials and employees of the Revenue Department.
The SCC Administrator reminded employees that their livelihoods are sustained through Sylhet City Corporation and urged them to perform their duties with professionalism, honesty and dedication.
“Our goal is to transform Sylhet into a clean, modern, tourism-friendly and livable city. To achieve this, there is no alternative to increasing revenue generation. Greater emphasis must be placed on collecting revenue from holding taxes, trade licenses, markets and other sectors,” he said.
