Under the project titled ‘Awareness Promotion Activities for Child, Adolescent and Women Development’ initiated by Sylhet District Information Office, an orientation workshop on Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025 was held with the young volunteers of Girls Guide and Bangladesh Scouts at the district level with the financial support of UNICEF Bangladesh.
On Tuesday (October 7), Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Khan Md Reza-un-Nabi was the chief guest at the workshop held at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office.
In his speech as the chief guest, he said that prevention is better than cure. Due to timely vaccination, it has been possible to prevent many deadly diseases including tuberculosis and smallpox. Typhoid disease can also be prevented if vaccination is taken on time.
Medical Officer Dr Swapnil Sourav Roy presented a power point on typhoid vaccination at the workshop. He presented detailed information including the causes, symptoms and remedies of typhoid fever.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Anisur Rahman said that the target of administering typhoid vaccine in Sylhet district this time is 10 lakh 16 thousand 502 and the target of Sylhet division is about 3 million. The Health Department is working to achieve the target of 100 percent.
The workshop was chaired by District Information Office Director Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin. It was conducted by Assistant Director of District Information Office Rakibul Hasan. UNICEF Sylhet Region Head Kazi Dil Afroz Islam, Bangladesh Scouts Sylhet Region Deputy Director Taposh Kanti Goldar, District Education Officer Abu Sayeed Md Abdul Wadud and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Janmejoy Dutt also spoke.
