The Sylhet Judicial Department has organized a memorial service and prayer mahfil in memory of Judge Jagannath Pande and Shaheed Sohel Ahmed, who were killed in a brutal militant attack on November 14, 2005 and to pray for the eternal peace of Tawsif Rahman Sumon, son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman, who was stabbed to death by an assailant on November 13.
The program was held on Sunday (November 16) in the conference room of the District Judge’s Court. The memorial meeting was presided over by Sylhet Acting District and Sessions Judge and Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Erfan Ullah.
Among those who spoke at the event were Sylhet Labor Court Chairman (District and Sessions Judge) Nurul Alam Mohammad Nipu, Cyber Tribunal Judge (District and Sessions Judge) Ferdous Ara, Acting Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Rajib Kumar Biswas, Acting Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid and Acting Chief Judicial Magistrate and Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan.
The speakers expressed deep concern regarding the security of judges and called for effective measures to ensure their safety and create a secure working environment.
Later, prayers were offered for the souls of the deceased. PID Sylhet
