Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Dr Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain said that scouts are the first to come forward during any disaster. In difficult times like Corona, when brothers refused to accept the dead bodies of brothers, scouts risked their lives and did many risky things including burying bodies.
He said this while inaugurating the ‘Cleaning and Greening Program’ jointly organized by Bangladesh Scouts and UNDP at the Divisional Commissioner’s office on Monday morning.
On this occasion, Bangladesh Scouts, Sylhet Region Secretary Mubin Ahmad Jaegirdar conducted the function and spoke among others, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Debjit Singh, United Nations Representative Asim Serestadar, Sylhet City Corporation Chief Health Officer Dr Zahid Hossain, Bangladesh Scouts, Sylhet Regional Deputy Commissioner (Organization and Vidhi) Nihar Kanti Roy, Regional Deputy Commissioner (Social Development & Health) Tania Ahmed, Bangladesh Scouts, Sylhet Metro District Secretary Md Ziaur Rahman, Sylhet Metro Scout Leader Asim Ranjan Talukder and Regional Office Super Ajay Kumar Dey.
After the inauguration ceremony, hundreds of Scouts and Girl Scouts of Sylhet District Rover, Sylhet Metropolitan Scouts and Sylhet Railway Scouts participated in the clean-up activities.
Chairman of Sylhet Education Board Professor Dr Roma Bijay Sarkar announced the end of the program. Press release
