The ‘Sylhet Toran’ (Sylhet Gate) built next to the Osmani International Airport Road in the Lakkatura Tea Garden area, the gateway to the Sylhet city has been inaugurated.
Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury inaugurated this arch constructed by SCC on Friday, October 20 evening.
At that time, the Mayor said that ‘Sylhet Toran’ has been constructed to welcome the tourists coming to the spiritual and tourist city of Sylhet.
He said that the environment, nature and historical issues of the region have been depicted in the arch through the architectural style.
The ‘Sylhet Toran’ design incorporates the beautiful natural environment of the Sylhet region, the beauty of greenery, water, stones and fountains.
The design also symbolically represents the prehistoric megalithic stone of Jaintapur on the pylon.
Sylhet City Corporation Ward No. 6 Councilor Farhad Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Noor Azizur Rahman, Executive Engineer Shamsul Haque Patwari and local dignitaries were present at the ‘Sylhet Toran’ inauguration ceremony. Press release
