The newly elected mayor and councilors of Sylhet City Corporation paid their respects at the shrine of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara.
After taking oath at noon on Monday, July 3, they went to Tungipara in the afternoon under the leadership of Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury. Awami League presidium member Syeda Zebunnesa Haque was with them. Those concerned welcomed them there.
After offering flowers at the shrine of Bangabandhu, prayers were offered for the souls of the Father of the Nation, all the martyrs of the Great Liberation War and August 15th and four national leaders.
