Staff Reporter : Sylhet City Corporation has canceled the new holding tax.
SCC Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury made this announcement at a press conference at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium after the emergency general meeting of the City Council at Nagarbhaban meeting room on Friday, May 24.
The mayor said, respecting public wishes, Sylhet City Corporation has decided to cancel the holding tax determined on the basis of the assessment of 2016.
He also said that holding tax will be determined by re-assessment under the supervision of councilors in 42 wards of SCC.
The mayor appealed to the citizens to pay the outstanding holding tax by July 31.
Sylhet City Corporation Panel Mayor Makhlishur Rahman Kamran, Councilors, Chief Executive Officer Md Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Executive Engineer Noor Azizur Rahman and secretaries of various branches were present.
