SCC Administrator Assures Initiative to Renovate Aliya Madrasa Field

The administrator of Sylhet City Corporation-SCC, Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, has assured that necessary steps will be taken to renovate the field of Sylhet Government Aliya Madrasa.
He made this assurance on Wednesday (April 8) at noon while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony and prize distribution of the madrasa’s annual sports competition.
Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said that the field holds historical significance. Even before the partition of India, various political and social gatherings have been held there. Many prominent politicians of the subcontinent have delivered speeches at this Field. Therefore, proper preservation and maintenance of this historic Field are essential.
Highlighting the importance of sports for students, he said that just as every lesson in the curriculum is important, sports are equally essential. Students who are deprived of sports are comparatively at a higher risk of going astray.
Referring to various government initiatives to promote sports, the SCC administrator said that Prime Minister Tareq Rahman is very sincere about the development of sports. He has taken initiatives to involve students in sports from the primary level and has planned to include sports as part of the curriculum.
He also mentioned that on April 30, the Prime Minister will visit Sylhet and inaugurate the ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ program across the country.
The event was presided over by Professor Muhammad Mahmudul Hasan, Principal of Sylhet Government Aliya Madrasa. Among others who spoke at the event were Associate Professor Abu Musa Md Tarek of the English Department and Shah Shahidul Islam, convener of the sports competition organizing committee. Press release
