Staff Reporter: The Rapid Action Battalion-RAB 9 has recovered a significant number of illegal weapons, narcotics and smuggled goods in Sylhet following the 13th National Parliamentary Election and has arrested more than 200 accused individuals and snatchers.
In a press release, RAB-9 stated that the recovered weapons include 1 foreign revolver, 1 shotgun, 1 one-shooter gun, 1 rifle and 10 air guns. Additionally, 108 rounds of cartridges and detonators, 14 cocktails (improvised explosives) and 4.9 kg of power gel explosives were seized.
The recovered drugs include 1,326 kg of cannabis, 12,442 yaba tablets, 479 bottles of Eskuf syrup, 138 bottles of Phensedyl, 435 liters of foreign liquor and 14 liters of beer.
Furthermore, smuggled goods worth 8.1 million taka were recovered, along with 3 trucks and multiple private cars and CNG auto-rickshaws.
At the same time, more than 200 accused individuals were arrested in various cases including robbery, extortion, drugs and human trafficking—among them 65 accused in high-profile murder cases and 24 in rape cases, as well as over 20 identified snatchers.
