On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has provided a grant of Tk 4.135 million for the sanitation workers engaged in waste management under Sylhet City Corporation-SCC.
On Friday evening (22 May, SCC Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury received the cheque for the grant from the Prime Minister at a ceremony held at the BNP political office in Gulshan, Dhaka.
During the event, the Prime Minister referred to his recent visit to Sylhet and praised the city’s cleanliness and beauty.
He expressed satisfaction at the clean and well-organized urban environment and urged the SCC administration to continue maintaining the development and beautification of Sylhet.
Thanking the Prime Minister, SCC Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury said, “Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a compassionate leader. He always deeply understands the joys and hardships of ordinary people and stands beside them. This grant for sanitation workers to celebrate Eid is another shining example of his humane leadership.”
He further said that the Prime Minister is highly sincere about the development of Sylhet city and the welfare of its residents. To build Sylhet into a modern, clean and developed city, he has continuously been providing necessary guidance, encouragement and support.
He added that this grant would further motivate the sanitation workers and boost both their morale and work efficiency.
The SCC Administrator also expressed sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Local Government Minister and all concerned for their continued support for Sylhet’s development and for providing assistance to the sanitation workers.
At the function, the Prime Minister provided Eid gifts in the form of grants for sanitation workers of the country’s 13 city corporations.
Among those present were Local Government Minister, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, along with administrators of the 13 city corporations.
It may be noted that during this year’s holy Eid-ul-Fitr as well, the Prime Minister had provided Eid gifts for sanitation workers of all city corporations across the country, including Sylhet. Press release
