Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Mozibor Rahman has called upon various individuals and organizations to come forward in sponsoring sports in Sylhet.
On the occasion of National and International Sports Day, he made this call in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized jointly by Sylhet district administration, District sports organization and District sports office on Thursday morning.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very enthusiastic about the development of sports. Always referred to herself as a member of the sports family. Sitting on the field watching the game like a normal spectator. Always encourage the players. He was most excited about the success of the Bangladesh team. The government is paying special attention to Sylhet for the development of sports.
He said, sportspersons in Sylhet are showing achievement in various sports at the national level. Local sponsorship can make the sports arena more successful.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mubarak Hossain (General) presided over the meeting. District Sports Association General Secretary Mahi Uddin Ahmad Salim, Sylhet District Press Club President Hasina Begum Chowdhury, former President Al Azad and District Women Sports Association General Secretary Marian Chowdhury Mammi were the special guests. In the speech of the special guest, General Secretary of District Sports Association Mahi Uddin Ahmad Salim said, if the new generation is not involved in sports, there is a risk of getting addicted to drugs.
In the President’s speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Mubarak Hossain mentioned some exceptional initiatives of the Deputy Commissioner and the District administration, including the reception of the players, for the development of Sylhet’s sports arena.
At the end of the discussion meeting, sports equipment was given to various sports organizations, educational institutions and scouts teams.
