Staff Reporter : Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB member Md Masum Billah’s body has been recovered after 24 hours.
On Sunday (August 10) afternoon, the body was recovered from the Isamati River in the BGB’s Sonarhat BOP area in Gowaighat upazila of Sylhet under the leadership of local diver Noor Mia.
The BGB said that on the afternoon of August 9, a boat of a patrol team of 48 BGB was hit by a boat loaded with smugglers and contraband goods. As a result two BGB members fell into the Isamati River. One of them was able to swim to the shore but the other soldier Md Masum Billah went missing.
Since then, the search for the missing soldier was underway with the help of the people of the area and the diving team of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
