Staff Reporter: The holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country with due dignity and religious solemnity.
In Sylhet, the main Eid congregation was held at the historical Shahi Eidgah. Joining millions of worshippers, Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir MP and Minister for Labour, Employment, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury MP offered their prayers there.
Also present at the jamat were MP M A Malik, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, Divisional Commissioner Khan Md Reza-un-Nabi, SCC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rejai Rafin Sarkar and Deputy Commissioner Md Sarwar Alam. Afterwards, they exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of life.
According to PID, the Eid jamat was led by Pir of Baruna, Allama Mufti Rashidur Rahman Faruqi Barnavi.
After exchanging greetings, Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that people elected them with sky-high expectations and under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is working to fulfill those expectations.
He added that controlling commodity prices is the government’s main goal and it has been able to keep prices within people’s purchasing capacity.
Labour, Employment, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury MP said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is committed to moving the country forward in unity.
