The Administrator of Sylhet City Corporation-SCC, Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said that ensuring the safety of workers engaged in hazardous tasks is to much important. “No job is more important than life. Therefore, every worker must use the necessary protective equipment and work safely while carrying out their duties,” he said.
He made these remarks on Monday (11 May) while speaking as the chief guest at a program held in the conference room of the Nagar Bhaban, where safety equipment was distributed among workers of the SCC electricity department.
The SCC Administrator further said, “Employees of the electricity department work day and night, risking their lives to provide services to city residents. Even during storms, rain and adverse weather conditions, they continue their duties to keep the city’s lighting and electricity management operational. Because of their hard work and sacrifice, residents continue to receive normal services. Therefore, ensuring their safety is our moral responsibility.”
He added, “Sylhet City Corporation is always sincere about ensuring a safe working environment. In the future as well, the corporation will continue providing necessary safety equipment and support to employees.”
Speaking as the chair of the event, Acting Chief Executive Officer of SCC, Md Ashik Noor, said that while providing services to city residents is important, ensuring workers’ safety is equally important. Every worker must use protective equipment while performing hazardous duties.
