Staff Reporter : The Zakiganj Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (19 BGB) conducted operations and seized Indian cumin, cattle, sugar and betel leaves worth approximately Tk 3.625 million.
Acting on secret information, a special operational patrol team from the Suraighat BOP under the BGB Sylhet Sector carried out a special drive at Kanaighat on Tuesday (May 12) around 7:00 pm in Kanaighat Upazila.
During the operation, 663 kilograms of Indian cumin and one Bangladeshi pickup vehicle were seized in an abandoned condition. The estimated seizure value of the recovered items is Tk 2,395,600.
In addition, on the same day and the following day (May 13), separate operational patrol teams from the Lovachhara BOP, Guabari BOP and Suraighat BOP conducted drives in the border areas of Jaintiapur Upazila and Kanaighat Upazila.
During these operations, they recovered 1,680 kilograms of Indian sugar, three cattle and 105 bundles of betel leaves that had been left unattended. The estimated seizure value of the recovered goods is Tk 1,229,100.
