Staff Reporter : Border Guard Bangladesh’s Zakiganj Battalion (19 BGB) seized a large quantity of illegal goods worth around Tk 4.35 million in separate operations.
Acting on secret information, separate patrol teams from Suraighat BOP, Lovachhara BOP and Jaintapur BOP under 19 BGB conducted drives in border areas of Jaintapur and Kanaighat upazilas in Sylhet on Friday (May 15). They recovered 785 kilograms of Indian sugar, 68 kilograms of tea leaves, one cow and 13,000 sticks of bidis abandoned by smugglers. The seized goods were valued at Tk 230,950.
Earlier, at around 11:15 pm on Thursday (May 14), a special patrol team from the battalion headquarters conducted another operation in Balidhara area of Kanaighat upazila.
During the operation, the team seized 1,770 kilograms of Indian cumin and a Bangladeshi pickup truck abandoned by smugglers. The seized items were valued at Tk 4.124 million.
According to BGB, the total value of all seized goods stands at Tk 4,354,950.
