Staff Correspondent: All types of commercial establishments in Sylhet city—including general shops—except hotels, restaurants and drug stores, must close by 9:30 pm.
The decision was taken at a meeting between the Sylhet Metropolitan Police-SMP and various business organizations in the city. It will come into effect on December 7.
The meeting, held at 3 pm on November 30 in the conference room of the SMP Commissioner’s office, was presided over by Police Commissioner Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury.
It was also decided that parking spaces in every commercial building must remain open for public parking. The resolution further states that all markets and shopping malls that originally included parking spaces in their approved plans—but later built shops or establishments in those areas—must remove those structures and reopen the spaces for parking by December 31.
