There have been allegations that some dishonest groups are taking money from job seekers by promising recruitment to various positions in the Sylhet City Corporation-SCC.
The matter has come to the attention of SCC Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury. He stated that currently there is no ongoing recruitment process in the Sylhet City Corporation, nor is there any opportunity for financial transactions in the name of recruitment. Despite this, a fraudulent group is attempting to deceive the public and extort money through false promises.
He said, “If anyone demands money by promising jobs using the name of the City Corporation or my name, it is completely fraudulent. No one should fall for such temptations.”
The SCC Administrator further stated that any information regarding recruitment is published only through official notifications of the City Corporation.
He therefore urged everyone not to trust assurances of jobs offered through individuals or intermediaries.
Calling on citizens to remain vigilant, Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said, “Under no circumstances should anyone engage in financial transactions. If you become a victim of fraud, inform the law enforcement agencies.”
On behalf of the Sylhet City Corporation, everyone has been requested to stay alert regarding this matter. Press release
