Special Correspondent, Habiganj : Former Mayor of Habiganj Municipality, Joint General Secretary of District Awami League Md Ataur Rahman Salim has been sent to jail in the case of murder of Mostak Ahmed during the anti-discrimination student movement in Habiganj town.
On Wednesday, September 18, when Ataur Rahman Salim was produced in the court of Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Fakhrul Islam, the judge ordered him to be sent to prison.
RAB-2 and RAB-9 arrested Ataur Rahman Salim from Dhanmondi, Dhaka on Tuesday night. Later he was handed over to Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station.
On the afternoon of August 2, Awami League and affiliated organization leaders clashed with anti-discrimination students in Tinkona Pukurpar area of Habiganj town for three hours. Mostak Ahmed was shot and died.
In this incident, on August 20, S M Mamun of Umednagar village filed a murder case in the name of 111 people including Habiganj District Awami League President, then Member of Parliament Advocate Abu Zahir and Municipal Mayor Ataur Rahman Salim.
Ataur Rahman Salim has also been accused in the Ripon Sheel murder case in Habiganj town.
