Bangladesh’s Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, met with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday (April 9). Also present were Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Mahdi Amin and the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warmly congratulated Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He praised Bangladesh’s long struggle for restoring democracy and its ongoing development progress.
During the meeting, Adviser Mahdi Amin conveyed greetings on behalf of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister and handed over a special letter.
Detailed discussions were held on labor markets and recruitment between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to preventing worker exploitation and ensuring a transparent, fair and efficient recruitment system.
They also discussed enhancing bilateral trade and investment, expressing mutual interest in strengthening economic engagement for shared benefits. Additionally, cooperation in education—especially teacher exchange and academic collaboration—was highlighted as a way to deepen ties between the people of both nations.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim invited Bangladesh’s Prime Minister to visit Malaysia at a convenient time.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current excellent bilateral relations and pledged to further strengthen cooperation in various sectors. Press release
