Bangladesh Community organized a civic reception in honor of the newly elected Lord Mayor of Cardiff County Council, the capital of Wales, Dr Bablin Mallik on Sunday, July 2, Cardiff
In St. Peter’s Church Hall, Cardiff, under the chairmanship of Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, convenor of the reception committee and conducted by joint convenor Abdul Malik, Youth Parliament Member of Wales Kahera Shah read the certificate of merit.
The Lord Mayor’s father Community Leader Mohammad Feroze, Senior Personality Community Leader Abdul Majeed, Former Deputy Lord Mayor Councilor Ali Ahmad, Councilor Jasmin Chowdhury, Councilor Saleh Ahmad, Accountant Fazlul Haque Farooq, Md Siraj Ali, Abdul Hannan Shahidullah, Sheikh Mohammad Tahir Ullah, Lord Mayor’s husband Professor Mallik Mosaddek, Tahmina Khan, Mohammad Ana Mia, S A Rahman Madhu, Ali Akbar, Akhtaruzzaman Qureshi Neepu, Harun Talukder, Nurul Haque Ansari, Journalist Mustafa Saleh Liton, Ghulam Mortuza, Liaqat Ali, Qazi Mohammad Shahjahan, Zainal Uddin Shibul, Afzal Khan Mitu, Rafiqul Islam, S I Chowdhury Bablu, Salim Ahmed, Yasin Chowdhury Layek, Abul Kalam Mumin, Zillul Ahmad Chowdhury, Khalilur Rahman, Amira Hossain of the new generation and journalist Mohammad Mokis Mansoor spoke as guests.
Dr Rabeya Khatun, Syeda Bani Karmani, Mukta Uddin, Sheikh Jasmin Zaheed, Aleya Ansari, Mumtaz Begum and Sharmili Naz gave floral greetings to the newly elected mayor.
Speakers warmly congratulated Dr Bablin Mallik for making history and shining a light on the community by becoming the first Muslim and ethnic minority Lord Mayor of Cardiff City Council.
They also hoped to get a member of Parliament from the Bangladeshi community in the near future.
The speakers said that it will not be difficult to get a member of parliament if a Bangladeshi gets nominated as a member of parliament from any party and works for him regardless of the party.
Lord Mayor Dr Bablin Mallik expressed his gratitude to everyone in the community and urged the children of the new generation to be more involved in British politics.
She also requested everyone to support the Lord Mayor’s Charity during his next one-year tenure.
Later, lunch was organized under the management of the organizing committee including Jalalia Masjid chairman Md Lilu Mia. Jasmine Mansoor, Cardiff, UK
