Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, visited the Sylhet area on the occasion of the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026.
During the visit on Thursday (January 29), the Army Chief exchanged views with senior military officers, officials of various law enforcement agencies and civil administration officials from all districts of Sylhet Division at the conference room of the Sylhet District Administration.
At the meeting, issues related to inter-institutional coordination and overall security management were discussed to ensure the peaceful, impartial and fair conduct of the upcoming National Parliament Election.
The Army Chief emphasized the importance of carrying out duties with professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly behavior.
He also inspected the activities of army personnel deployed under ‘In Aid to Civil Power’ on the spot and provided necessary directions.
During the visit, the General Officer Commanding of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, the Military Secretary of the Army, the Commandant of SI&T, the GOC of the 17 Infantry Division and Area Commander of Sylhet Area, along with senior officers from the Army Headquarters and Sylhet Area, divisional commissioners, senior civil administration and law enforcement officials, and representatives of various media outlets were present.
