Staff Reporter : The Rapid Action Battalion-RAB has rescued an abducted madrasa student from Sunamganj and arrested the prime suspect in the abduction case.
According to RAB-9, a female student of Rasulganj Dakhil Madrasa in Jagannathpur Upazila was abducted at around 1:00 pm on May 14 after the suspect had allegedly failed in his attempts to persuade her with indecent proposals and a marriage offer.
Following the incident, the victim’s mother filed a case with Jagannathpur Police Station. In response, RAB-9 launched a shadow investigation and intensified intelligence operations.
Acting on a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-9, CPC-3, Sunamganj conducted a raid in the Wazkhali area of Sunamganj Sadar Upazila at approximately 9:00 pm on Wednesday (June 10). During the operation, the abducted student was rescued and the prime accused, Redwan Ahmed (25), son of Abul Kalam, of Bade Jhigli, Chhatak, Sunamganj, was arrested.
The arrested suspect and the rescued student were subsequently handed over to Jagannathpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
