Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury, Administrator of the Sylhet City Corporation-SCC, has said that one of the government’s key election pledges is to bring healthcare services to people’s doorsteps.
He noted that ensuring healthcare for underprivileged and disadvantaged communities is being given the highest priority.
He made the remarks while addressing the first conference of the Bangladesh Qaumi Blood Donor Council, Sylhet Division, as chief guest on Wednesday afternoon (June 3).
Speaking at the conference, held at the Shaheed Soleman Hall of the Sylhet Central Muslim Literary Society, the SCC Administrator said that healthcare remains one of the current government’s top priority sectors.
He added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working sincerely to ensure quality healthcare services for every citizen of the country. To achieve this goal, various initiatives have been undertaken to strengthen healthcare institutions and expand the scope of services.
He also mentioned that Sylhet City Corporation is implementing a range of programs to bring healthcare services closer to city residents.
The conference was chaired by Hafizur Rahman Misbah, President of the organization’s Sylhet Divisional Branch. Special guest Maulana Abdul Malik Chowdhury, Chairman of the Sylhet Divisional Public Welfare Trust, also spoke at the event.
