Staff Reporter : Members of the Rapid Action Battalion-RAB have arrested a man with 7 kilograms of cannabis in Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj district.
Acting on a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-9, CPC-3, Sunamganj conducted a raid near the Sachna Bazar ferry ghat area of the upazila at around 10:15 pm on Monday (June 1) and detained one person.
During the operation, 7 kilograms of cannabis were recovered from his possession and the detainee, identified as Md Liton Mia (37), son of Md Akkas Ali of Chakpara, Kalmakanda, Netrokona, was arrested.
The arrested individual was a fugitive accused named in arrest warrants in a robbery preparation case filed with Uttara West Police Station in Dhaka and a narcotics case filed with Karimganj Police Station in Kishoreganj.
He was later handed over to Jamalganj Police Station for further legal proceedings.
