Energy-Eicient Modern LED Lights to Be Installed in Every Ward : SCC Administrator

Sylhet City Corporation-SCC Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury has said that energy-saving modern LED lights will be installed in every ward to make Sylhet city illuminated and safe.
He stated that their goal is to improve the quality of life for city residents and develop Sylhet into a clean and smart city.
He made these remarks on Sunday night (May 24) while inaugurating two modern lighting projects at separate locations through plaque unveilings and ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
He first inaugurated the street lighting project from Kollogram Bholaimill to Kollogram Central Jame Mosque in Ward No. 33 of the city and later inaugurated a modern road-divider lighting project in Wards 26, 27, 40, and 42.
The two projects were implemented under the ‘Local Government COVID-19 Response and Recovery Project.’
During the inauguration, the SCC administrator said, “Following the directives of the Honorable Prime Minister, we must place special importance on cost-effective management by reducing electricity and energy consumption. With that goal in mind, these modern LED lights will gradually be installed across the entire city.”
He also instructed the concerned officials to maintain strict supervision over the regular maintenance and repair of the lighting system.
Highlighting the technical aspects of the project, SCC Executive Engineer (Electrical) Joydeb Biswas said that the installation of these modern LED lights would significantly reduce the electricity bills of Sylhet City Corporation.
He added that modernization and automation of the street lighting system have been ensured through the introduction of a ‘smart control system.’ This will not only save electricity but also help reduce road accidents at night and enhance the beauty of Sylhet as a tourist city.
Among those present at the inauguration ceremony were SCC Secretary Md Ashik Noor, Chief Engineer Md Ali Akbar, Executive Engineer (Electrical) Joydeb Biswas, other senior SCC officials, distinguished persons from the concerned wards and local residents. Press release
