Current Government Believes in Action-Not Words : Chief Information Officer

Chief Information Officer Syed Abdal Ahmed said that the government has fulfilled its election manifesto promises even before the ink on voters’ fingers had dried after the election. He stated that the current government has already proven that it believes in action rather than words.
He made these remarks virtually as the chief guest at a seminar titled ‘Implementation of the Current Government’s Election Manifesto and the Thoughts of Media Workers’, organized by the Regional Information Office, Sylhet, with journalists at the Shaistaganj Upozila Press Club in Habiganj on Saturday (May 16).
The chief guest said that the media is the mirror of society and plays an important role in shaping public opinion. He emphasized that media professionals must play a more active and objective role in presenting the progress of the government’s election manifesto implementation, development plans and public welfare activities accurately before the people.
He also said that the government has created a media-friendly environment to ensure the free flow of information and is providing various facilities for journalists to perform their professional duties.
At the same time, stressing the importance of raising awareness to prevent misinformation and rumors, he said that positive journalism for the welfare of the country and its people is the need of the time.
Sessions at the seminar were conducted by Hasina Akter, Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Regional Information Office Sylhet; Md Walidur Rahman, Deputy Director (Routine Duty) of the Habiganj District Information Office and Moinul Hasan Ratan, President of the Shaistaganj Press Club.
