Staff Reporter: Two establishments in Habiganj have been fined a total of Tk 22,000 in a drive conducted by the Rapid Action Battalion-RAB and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from RAB-9, CPC-3, Shayestaganj Camp, Habiganj and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection carried out operations on Saturday (April 18) around noon at Aliganj Bazar in Baniachang upazila and Imambari Bazar in Nabiganj upazila.
During the operation, Md Abdul Malek, owner of Shapla Ice Cream Factory (Baniachang, Habiganj), was fined Tk 7,000 and Md Amir Uddin, owner of Two Bhai Restaurant (Nabiganj, Habiganj), was fined Tk 15,000 under Sections 42 and 43 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act (2009) for mixing prohibited substances in food products.
