Staff Reporter : The National Citizens Party-NCP Sylhet District and Metropolitan Branch has made 27-point proposals to reduce traffic congestion and ensure safe roads in Sylhet.
The party’s joint convener and Sylhet Divisional Secretary Ehtesham Haque presented these proposals at a press conference at a prestigious hotel in the city Saturday (October 4).
The proposal calls for providing licenses and training to battery-powered rickshaw drivers to reduce traffic congestion, preparing a list of legal and illegal garages and determining parking stands.
It has also been proposed to conduct research on the role of battery-powered rickshaws and other vehicles in road accidents.
The proposal also calls for expressing respect and solidarity with transport workers and expressing solidarity with every citizen in their struggle to achieve their just rights, and not filing false cases, attacks or torture.
Responding to various questions from journalists at the press conference, Ehtesham Haque said, “This proposal has been presented as a draft. The people will judge whether it is correct or not. They are working in the interest of the people.”
