Staff Reporter : Planning Minister M A Mannan said, ‘Awami League will not cut the canal and bring crocodiles. We will run our country. Whatever the problem is, we have to solve it.’
He said this in response to questions from journalists after the unveiling ceremony of ‘Lens’, a collection of Bangladesh Photojournalists Association Sylhet Divisional Committee on Friday, October 27 morning.
The Planning Minister reminded everyone that independence has come under the leadership of Awami League and democracy has also been established. There is no alternative to this party in any field of democracy or development.
He said, democracy has to be practiced and in this case the main task is election. It will be held according to the constitution.
M A Mannan said, nothing will happen on October 28. But if someone tries to do something destructive the police will look into it.
The event was held at Sylhet Zilla Parishad Auditorium. Bangladesh Photojournalist Association Sylhet Divisional Committee President Abdul Batin Faisal presided over it. Sylhet-Sunamganj Reserved Constituency Member of Parliament Shamima Akhtar Khanam, Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, newly elected Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Zilla Parishad Chairman Advocate Nasir Uddin Khan, President of editorial body of Daily Sylheter Dak Ragib Ali, Founding President of Sylhet District Press Club and EMJA Al Azad and senior journalist Iqbal Siddiqui were the special guests. Ataur Rahman Ata, founding president of the organization spoke among others. Sports and Cultural Secretary Subrata Das delivered the welcome address. General Secretary Nurul Islam conducted the function. Leaders of various classes and professions were also present.
