Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Division Abu Ahmad Siddiqui NDC said that Bangladesh is moving towards becoming a welfare state. The Universal Pension Scheme is a milestone in this progress. Through this Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fulfilled another promise to the nation.
He said this at a gathering organized on the occasion of the inauguration of the Prime Minister Universal Pension Scheme at Sylhet district administration conference room on Thursday, August 17 at noon.
The Divisional Commissioner said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamed of a welfare state with Bangladesh in need of protection for every human being. Therefore, where many other countries could not draft a constitution even after years, the father of the nation gave the constitution to the nation in just 9 months, to ensure security for everyone.
Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Russel Hasan said in the president’s speech at the gathering that the universal pension scheme will ensure the protection of the lives of people from all walks of life in the country. No one has to depend on anyone for survival in old age. Those living below the poverty line will also get this opportunity.
He emphasized on conveying this matter to common people.
