After a month of strict fasting, Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most important religious festival of Muslims, has been celebrated throughout the country with the promise of establishing a society of proper, dignified, religious seriousness and equality.
In Sylhet, the main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr was held at the historical Shahi Eidga Maidan at 8:30 am. At least 50,000 worshipers including Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen, Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Awami League mayoral candidate in the upcoming SCC election Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury and Acting President of District Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury offered prayers here.
Also, Eid-ul-Fitr prayers are offered in Eidgahs and mosques in different areas of the district including Hazrat Shahjalal (R) Dargah.
Because it’s not raining and security was assured, worshipers everywhere were able to offer Eid prayers with ease. In every congregation, prayers are prayed for the welfare of the country and the nation.
In Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts Eid-ul-Fitr also celebrated with due dignity. Staff Reporter
