Historical Teliapara Day was celebrated with the pledge to preserve the memorial in Teliapara, which is full of memories of the great liberation war.
On this occasion, on Tuesday, April 4, the national flag was hoisted and tributes were paid at the memorial in Teliapara tea garden area of Madhavpur upazila of Habiganj.
Tributes were paid by Habiganj District Administration, Upazila Muktijudha Sangsad, Upazila Administration and various socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions.
Later, a discussion meeting was held under the initiative of the upazila administration. Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Jahan was present as the chief guest. Upazila Executive Officer Manjur Ahsan presided. Among others, veteran Freedom Fighter retired Captain Kazi Kabir Uddin, veteran Freedom Fighter Gaur Prasad Roy spoke.
In the chief guest’s speech, Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Jahan said that Prime Minister Sheik Hasina has shown success at every level in building the Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu’s dream in the spirit of liberation war. A separate land proposal has been sent for preservation of Teliapara tea garden memorial and liberation war museum. If the memorial of Teliapara tea garden is preserved, the new generation will know more about the history of liberation war.
It is to be noted that on April 4, 1971, in the manager’s bungalow of the Teliapara tea garden, the warriors gathered and determined the strategy of the liberation war as per the instructions of Bangabandhu. Habiganj Correspondent
