Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen MP said that Bangladesh government earns Tk 46 thousand 773 crore every year from livestock sector. Therefore, efforts are being made to further develop the livestock sector, which has huge potential.
He said that for the further development of the livestock sector, the government is allocating Tk 200 crore every year.
On Friday morning, he was speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Departmental Media Orientation Workshop titled ‘Livestock Sector in Bangladesh : Problems and Prospects’ at the conference room of a hotel in Sylhet city’s Zindabazar.
Director General of Directorate of Animal Resources Dr Md Emdadul Haque Talukder presided over the workshop opening ceremony and special guests were project director of Local Governance Support Project-LGSP Enamul Habib, prominent media personality Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Sylhet Divisional Director of Directorate of Animal Resources Dr Mohammad Maruf Hasan, Senior Vice President of Sylhet District Press Club Moniruzzaman Monir, Livestock and Dairy Development Project-LDDP Chief Technical Coordinator Dr Md Golam Rabbani, Communication Consultant Zillur Rahman and Journalist Syed Burhan Kabir.
The foreign minister participated as chief guest in several other programs including laying the foundation stone of regional scout building in Sylhet during the day. Staff Reporter
