Non-stop trains are being started on the Sylhet-Dhaka railway by June next year.
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan and Chairman of Standing Committee on Railway Ministry A B M Fazle Karim Chowdhury gave this assurance.
In the 24th meeting of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Railways held at the second level of the West Block of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat on Thursday, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz Milad, Member of Parliament for Habiganj-1 Constituency and member of this Standing Committee, once again proposed to start high-speed non-stop trains on the Dhaka-Sylhet and Sylhet-Dhaka railways.
The Railway Minister and the Chairman of the Standing Committee took note of the proposal.
In the meeting, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz Milad MP emphasized the importance of starting the work of Sylhet-Dhaka dual gauge railway, development of Shaistaganj railway station and increase of tickets considering the suffering of the public.
At that time, other members of the standing committee related to the Ministry of Railways Shafiqul Islam Shimul MP, Md Shafiqul Azam Khan MP, Md Saifuzzaman MP, H M Ibrahim MP, Nasimul Alam Chowdhury MP and Begum Nadira Yasmin Jolly MP along with senior officials of the Ministry of Railways were present.
