Habibur Rahman Habib, Shalla : Ropa Aman paddy of 5 hectares of land in Sunamganj’s Shalla upazila have been submerged due to continuous rain for several days.
According to Upazila Agriculture Office sources, this time in Shalla, Ropa Aman paddy has been cultivated on 4 thousand 210 hectares of land. Upazila Agriculture Officer M Abdullah Al Masud Tushar said that 5 hectares of paddy land was submerged in water till Tuesday, October 10 due to continuous rain.
He also informed that although the main crop of Shalla Haor area and here is Boro paddy, yet Ropa Aman paddy is cultivated in the surrounding areas including Beradahar, Pratappur, Gramshalla, Meda, Musapur, Sashakhai, Bilpur, Markuli, Tuk Chanpur and Shaudershree in the upazila. .
Shalla Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Advocate Dipu Ranjan Das has confirmed the loss of Ropa Aman paddy in the area due to continuous rain for several days.
Narayan Chandra Baishnab of Beradahar village said that out of 12 bighas of his family’s Ropa Aman paddy land 3 bighas were submerged in water.
