Staff Reporter : Police in Sylhet’s Zakiganj arrested two people, including an inter-district robber, in separate operations conducted by Zakiganj Police Station.
On the night of April 24, a robbery took place at a residence in Burhanpur area under Barahal Union of the upazila. Following the incident, multiple police teams from Zakiganj Police Station launched operations under the direction of the district police superintendent to arrest the robbers and recover the stolen goods.
As part of the ongoing drive, police conducted an operation in the Barathakuri Union area on Thursday (May 14) and arrested Ramjan Ahmad (30), son of Jamal Ahmad Jamu, from Kashirchak, Zakiganj, Sylhet, for his involvement in the robbery.
Ramjan Ahmad later gave a confessional statement before the court under Section 164, providing important information regarding the robbery.
Police said he has eight cases filed against him in Zakiganj Police Station, Golapganj Model Police Station and several nearby police stations.
Based on information provided by him, police also arrested another suspect, Qayes Ahmad alias Kochali (38), son of Abdul Gani, from Hasitola, Zakiganj, Sylhet.
The arrested robbers were sent to court.
