Metropolitan University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Zahirul Haque said that the overall progress of the nation lies in the spread and development of science. Observability, testability and verifiability are three essential not only in science but also in any field of real life. The new generation should be science minded for higher research in science. Must be attracted to science. Bangladesh Science Academy is doing this by organizing National Science Olympiad.
He said this while inaugurating the regional festival of the 13th National Science Olympiad-2023 Sylhet Division organized by Bangladesh Science Academy and First Security Islami Bank at Bateshwar Campus of Sylhet Metropolitan University on Thursday morning.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Zahirul Haque hoisted the national flag along with the playing of the national anthem. Registrar Tarek Islam hoisted the university flag at this time.
Professor Chowdhury M Mokammel Wahid, Director of Student Welfare and Guidance of Metropolitan University and Abu Mohammad Nasser Khan, Assistant Vice President of First Security Islami Bank, spoke at the inauguration ceremony conducted by Rina Pal, Lecturer of Software Engineering Department at the central playground of Metropolitan University.
Metropolitan University has hosted National Science Olympiad Sylhet Region for 7 consecutive years. 250 students of higher secondary and secondary level of Habiganj, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Sylhet districts participated in this competition. Press release
